FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"VALSETZ" RESURFACES IN
HOLLYWOOD FOR EIGHT DAYS
Hollywood -- Caroline Davis has produced some of the most
exciting films in Hollywood. Beautiful, young, powerful, successful,
she can handle anything - except her own life. Fortunately, help
is about to come from the oddest place: a town that no longer
exists. Valsetz, Oregon. Population: 1.
Valsetz was originally produced in 1997 at the Celebration Theatre,
Hollywood, to much critical acclaim. It went on to win two 1998
Ovation Awards, one for acting (Patricia Place) and the other
for writing (Pamela Forrest), as well as a 1997 LA Weekly Theater
Award for writing (Pamela Forrest), and a 1998 Drama-Logue Award
for acting (Joanna Daniels).
Now, "Valsetz" is back at the Tamarind Theatre, 5919
Franklin Avenue, Hollywood, for an eight-day performance period,
spanning April 18th through the 28th. The two original cast members
are reprising their roles, as is the writer/ director Pamela Forrest.
"Valsetz" is being produced by Pat Scanlon and Jackam
Stripe Productions as a fundraiser to benefit The Florida Project,
a non-profit producing and networking organization. The manner
in which FP helps entertainment industry grads transition from
an academic to a professional milieu, and its willingness to embrace
graduates from all schools, has brought it national attention.
"[T]he Florida Project [is] a marvelous organization of
creative souls who
contribute their acting, writing, and other artistic talents to
see that plays,
shows, readings, and workshops are continually produced in
Florida, New York, and Los Angeles." -NoHo LA, February 2002
At the Tamarind, performances of "Valsetz" will run
from April 18th through 21st and April 25th through 28th, Thursday
through Saturday evenings at 8pm; Sunday matinÈe at 2pm.
Valet parking is available for evening performances. Tickets are
$10, and all proceeds benefit The Florida Project.
