Chip Chalmers started in the business by breaking in at 20th Century
Fox as a Production Coordinator. His first experience on the set
was M*A*S*H. Gradually learning the tricks of the
trade on shows like The Paper Chase and The
Fall Guy, Chip got into the Directors Guild as a Second
Assistant Director then working up to First Assistant on shows
like The Greatest American Hero, Dynasty,
The A-Team, and Trapper John, M.D.
The big break came in Florida while working on Miami
Vice. I had even doing some second unit directing
for awhile along with assistant directing when Don Johnson went
to bat for me to get an episode to direct. It happened and I
was a kid in the proverbial candy shop. Over 70 prime
time episodes later Chip is still going strong with credits
on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek:
Deep Space Nine, Melrose Place, Beverly
Hills, 90210, and recently Mortal Kombat.
