The
Florida Project is a non-profit, networking organization, which
promotes excellence in the arts and entertainment industry. Our
primary goal is to advance the career development of our members
in fields related directly to the performing arts industry through
activities and services which further their education and training.
Our members are working across the country as performers, directors,
playwrights, technicians and administrators in the fields of theatre,
film and television media. FP was established in New York City
in 1984 by a group of FSU School of Theatre and Asolo Conservatory
alumni who wanted to foster a community of fellow Seminoles working
in the Big Apple.
Our membership has now spread
from New York to California, with many members in between leading
to the establishment of our LA Chapter in November of 2000.
The Florida Project membership
is comprised of students, alumni and supporters from Florida
State University, The
Asolo Conservatory and the Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre
Training. (You may check out their websites by clicking on the
corresponding name). We are
committed to maintaining cohesiveness among all FSU, Asolo and
BRITT graduates throughout the United States. Over the years,
we have established chapters in Chicago, Atlanta, and at each
of our schools as well as our largest two chapters, New York City
and Los Angeles. We help keep our members in touch with those
presently in the performing arts community.
The support of our members
is what gives us our strength. It is what has been the driving
force behind all our endeavors.
The Florida Project has successfully
held many events over the years.< We have produced showcases and
cabarets, a full off-off Broadway theatrical season, hosted social
gatherings, conducted business forums, coordinated classes and
workshops and sponsored playwriting contests, all of which have
enhanced the visibility of our group. Our networking continues
to bring together and connect our members with this industry.
If you did not attend or graduate
from one of our programs and would like to become a member of
The Florida Project, please let us know. We have Associate Memberships
available.
If you are a graduate or attended
FSU for a period of time and would like to update your information
with their office, click FSU
Alumni Association. THEY WILL BE HAPPY TO KEEP YOU UPDATED
ON FSU EVENTS.
If you are interested in starting an FP Chapter
in your city to help guide and foster other entertainment alumni,
contact your local Seminole
Club Chapter for assistance and also contact us. We would
be happy to get you started.
